Meet Our Staff

Devon Harnarain is a proud Guyanese Canadian with deep roots in community development, advocacy, and social innovation. As Executive Director of the Caribbean Canadian Association of Waterloo Region (CCAWR), Devon is honoured to serve the Caribbean diaspora by creating opportunities for connection, empowerment, and transformation across the Region of Waterloo.
Devon is currently pursuing a Master of Business Administration (MBA) at Carleton University and a Master of Professional Education (MPEd) in the Field of Equity, Diversity, and Social Justice at Western University. With a background that bridges both community-based work and strategic leadership, Devon brings a unique lens to the challenges and possibilities facing Caribbean Canadians today.
Over the years, Devon has led and supported impactful initiatives across sectors including youth services, nonprofit leadership, and newcomer inclusion. He is deeply committed to building sustainable partnerships that honour the full diversity of the Caribbean diaspora and to ensuring equity is embedded in every aspect of organizational development and service delivery.
Devon’s leadership is grounded in the belief that equity, cultural pride, and collaboration are the cornerstones of a thriving and inclusive community. He looks forward to continuing this work alongside CCAWR’s dedicated board, volunteers, partners, and the community to strengthen the Caribbean Canadian presence and legacy in Waterloo Region.

Asha was born and raised in Barbados and migrated to Canada in 2008. She attended the University of the West Indies, Cave Hill Campus where she obtained a Bachelors Degree in Political Science (Special) and a Masters Degree in Electronic Governance for Developing States. As a Certified Human Resources Professional (CHRP), she is seasoned in the fields of human resources, EDI and labour relations, with two decades of extensive experience within the financial services and higher education sectors. She recently completed her Paralegal Certification in an effort to further strengthen her expertise in employment law and regulatory compliance.
Her professional approach is grounded in integrity, transparency and advocacy. She currently volunteers on various committees that seek to advance the rights and opportunities of black, indigenous and racialized communities where her aim is to always bring a balanced and people-centered lens to every challenge and opportunity.

Hi, I'm Britney Holung, Media Consultant for the Caribbean Canadian Association of Waterloo Region (CCAWR). I help bring CCAWR’s stories to life, whether it’s through social media, video, or community campaigns.
My passion lies in using media to highlight culture, build connection, and amplify voices that deserve to be heard. At CCAWR, I work closely with the team to share the impact of our programs, events, and the incredible people behind them.
With a background in digital media and content creation, I love creating content that feels real, engaging, and meaningful. For me, it’s all about representation, storytelling, and making sure our Caribbean-Canadian community continues to be seen, celebrated, and supported.

Born in England to Jamaican parents, Sean Collington has over 20 years of experience in Information Technology including leading, managing and supporting IT in professional services and manufacturing businesses in Kitchener, Waterloo and Toronto. His experience and background are both strategic and hands-on and includes database development and reporting, Microsoft 365 administration, programming analysis and development, data integration, network and server maintenance, mobile device management and IP telephony.
Sean calls Kitchener home with his wife. Other interests including travel, music, cycling, reading and continuous learning.

Tamara Cooper is the Program Coordinator at the Caribbean Canadian Association of Waterloo Region (CCAWR). Originally from the island of Jamaica, she brings a vibrant cultural lens and a deep-rooted passion for building community, advancing equity, and celebrating heritage.
With a strong commitment to community empowerment, equity, and cultural celebration, she plays a key role in developing and managing programs that foster inclusion, leadership, and social development across Waterloo Region. Her work supports a broad range of initiatives, including youth empowerment, entrepreneurship, and cultural events; that align with CCAWR’s mission to build bridges and create lasting impact for Caribbean and Racialized communities.
Driven by a passion for accessibility and inclusion, Tamara ensures that every program she leads reflects the diverse needs and strengths of the community. Her belief in boundless potential is summed up in her personal philosophy: "The sky is NOT the limit."
Through her role, Tamara continues to uplift and amplify the voices of those around her, helping to shape a stronger, more inclusive Waterloo Region.
